The Robin Subaru Industrial Generators California Compliant line was born out of CARB/EPA Tier III Requirements.  CARB stands for the California Air Resources Board,  which approved Tier III evaporative and exhaust emission regulations for small engines, less than 19 kW, on September 20, 2004.  The regulations became effective on October 20, 2004.  In response to these regulations, Robin Subaru engineered a line of generators which were California Compliant and met the CARB/EPA Tier III Requirements.  The Robin Subaru Industrial California Compliant line features the same extraordinary quality found on the other industrial generators offered by Robin Subaru.  These models are:

• Robin Subaru RGX2900C - Portable industrial, 2,900 watts, air cooled, 4 cycle, OHC & OHV, gas

• Robin Subaru RGX3600C - Portable industrial, 3,600 watts, air cooled, 4 cycle, OHC & OHV, gas

For Robin Subaru Industrial Generators California Compliant line to meet CARB/EPA Tier III Regulations, Robin Subaru Industrial Generators California Compliant line certified their generators using the SHED method.  SHED stands for "Sealed Housing for Evaporative Determination."  The SHED method, in it's most simplistic form, places equipment inside a sealed environment and runs it through variable temperatures.  During this process, evaporating emissions and hydrocarbon concentration are measured. 

The SHED method is highly effective and the only method that the California Air Resources Board will only allow for measuring evaporative emissions, although there are other methods available.  The SHED method ensures that running loss emissions have been controlled.
